AhlulBayt News Agency: The International University of Islamic Denominations hosted a delegation of Sunni scholars from Bangladesh on Monday.
The delegation held discussions with the university's president, Mohammad Hadi Fallahzadeh, in a meeting also attended by the institution’s deputies, officials, and faculty members.
Welcoming the scholars, Fallahzadeh emphasized the necessity of expanding scholarly and cultural exchanges between the universities of Iran and Bangladesh.
Referring to Islam’s global mission and the role of universities in promoting its teachings, he stated that the perspective of his institution revolves around proximity and unity within the Muslim Ummah. He remarked, “Our actions and behavior must align with the interests of the Islamic Ummah. Borders have been drawn by others, and if we remove ideological boundaries, geographical borders will no longer be an obstacle to our unity.”
Fallahzadeh elaborated on the objectives behind establishing the International University of Islamic Denominations, stating that one of its core missions is to foster theoretical and practical rapprochement among Islamic schools of thought. He noted that jurisprudence from different schools is taught by professors belonging to those respective traditions at the university.
Additionally, he expressed readiness to engage in academic collaboration with universities in Bangladesh, including faculty and student exchanges, both virtually and in person.
At the meeting, Jalil Parvin, the university’s vice president for education and graduate studies, introduced the institution’s scientific, educational, and research capacities. He underscored the importance of promoting a culture of proximity and peaceful coexistence among Muslims.
Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Madani, a faculty member at the university, warmly welcomed the Bangladeshi delegation and highlighted the essential role of scholarly interactions in strengthening Islamic unity.
Vaisi, the head of the university’s Shafi’i Jurisprudence and Law Department, also addressed the gathering, stressing the need for greater convergence among Muslims. He emphasized the importance of clarifying shared perspectives and reinforcing solidarity to confront common challenges.
The meeting concluded with a unity prayer, attended by both Sunni and Shia scholars.
